What is an Australian Mountain Doodle?
For those who can’t decide between a Bernedoodle and an Aussiedoodle, the Australian Mountain Doodle might be a great choice for you. AMDs have the health and smarts of the Aussie; the gentle, mellow nature of the Bernese; and the longevity and allergy-friendly properties of the Poodle. Likely because Poodles and Aussies are extremely smart and attentive, the Aussie Mountain Doodle does not tend to express the stereotypical stubbornness of the Bernese. As a result, AMDs are generally quick learners that are easy to train and eager to please.
Do Australian Mountain Doodles make good family pets?
AMDs are generally very friendly, social dogs who thrive with human attention and should not be left alone for long periods of time. While they need moderate physical activity (walks, time outside, etc.) and love mental and physical stimulation, they are usually calm and content. They are happiest when they are close to their people whether it’s to lay at your feet, soak up sun on the porch, or go for a hike in the woods.
What is the difference between ‘furnished’ and ‘unfurnished’?
A furnished doodle refers to the genetic trait in some that produces longer hair in the extremeties (tail and facial hair). While furnished pups are the more standard doodle look, some folks prefer less coat maintenance, or they desire the Bernese look but the greater lifespan of the poodle, and so an unfurnished pup is a better choice. Unfurnished pups lack the typical long eyebrows, mustache, and longer facial hair doodles are famous for. These pups will resemble their Australian Shepherd or Bernese Mountain Dog great grandparents.
Here at Sugar Maple Doodles, genetically speaking, our pups should come in both furnished and unfurnished varieties. We coat test all puppies prior to pick day to ensure you are informed regarding each puppy's furnishing status.
